Obituary of Helen Elizabeth Petty

Helen Elizabeth Petty, 95, of Heidi?s Haven Assisted Living, Lady Lake, Florida, passed away Thursday May 18, 2006 at her home. Born in Troy, New York on March 1, 1911 a daughter of William M. and Gertrude Gibbs Bartlett. She was a resident of the Capital District area most of her life and attended local schools. She was a graduate of Russell Sage College in Albany and received her Masters Degree in Teaching at SUNY Oneonta. Mrs. Petty first was employed at the Schenectady County Library for 5 years before Teaching at Mohonasen Central School. She was a Teacher at Mohonasen for over 20 years retiring in 1973. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teacher?s Association. Mrs. Petty was a parishioner of St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Schenectady, New York. She married Charles William Petty on November 25, 1937 he passed away in 1997. Mrs. Petty is survived by a daughter, Carol DeSilva and her husband John of The Villages, Florida; three sons, William ?Michael? Petty of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, John C. Petty and his wife Sandra of Guilderland, New York and Robert E. Petty of Albany, New York; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 12:30P.M. at St. Madeleine Sophie Roman Catholic Church, 3500 Carmen Road, Schenectady with the Rev. James Belogi as celebrant. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 11:15A.M.-12:15 P.M. at St. Madeleine Sophie Church prior to the Mass.
