Obituary of Jean S. Cervera

Jean S. Cervera, 73, formerly of West Main Street, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at the Mt. Loretto Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Born in Amsterdam on May 10, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Eusebio and Carmella Ottati DiBlasi. She was a graduate of the College Of St. Rose, in Albany, where she received her degree in elementary education. For many years, Jean taught in the Gloversville School District until she retired in 1984. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Assoc. and the C.S.E.A., also the College of St. Rose Alumni Assoc. Jean was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and was a member of its Santa Sofia Society. She will be remembered as a kind and loving member of her family. She was predeceased by her dear sister, Armida Kosinski on April 11th of this year. Her loving family includes her brothers, Frank and his wife Nellie DiBlasi of Amsterdam and Angelo and his wife Gilda DiBlasi of Chatsworth, California; her nieces and nephews: Mildred Ann DiBlasi, Terese Spindel, Vito Connie DiBlasi, Angela DiBlasi, Lenora Robert Crook, Edward Mimi Kosinski and Jennifer Brian Dietrick; as well as grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins. Services are Thursday at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Interment is in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her name to the Mount Loretto Nursing Home, Swart Hill Road. Jean?s family is truly grateful for the wonderful care she received while a resident there.
