Obituary of Charlotte W. Morley

Mrs. Charlotte W. Morley passed away May 8, 2006 peacefully at the home of her birth. Her last days were spent with her family at her side. Mrs. Morley was born February 12, 1925 in Amsterdam, a daughter of Thomas and Elsie Armitage Wilson and was a life long resident of Amsterdam. Charlotte married Kenneth R. Morley Sr. on Apri112, 1947. He died September 23, 1980. Charlotte will be remembered by family members as a self reliant individual with a great love of animals. Charlotte was a tactful conversationalist no matter the topic. She was a loving and caring mother, grandparent, great grandparent and friend to all. Charlotte graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1942 with a regents diploma. She also graduated from Larson Jr. College, New Haven, CT, after which she worked for Metropolitan Insurance Co. before joining her husband in the family business in 1959. Both an officer and employee of Morley Athletic for the majority of her adult life, Charlotte served as President of the company from 1981 unti11988. She retired in April 1992 and at the request of the family stayed on in an advisory position until may 1998. She was very proud that two grandsons, Kenneth and Justin had joined in the family business with their father and mother thus making Morley Athletic Supply Co., Inc. a fourth generation family owned and operated company. Mrs. Morley was a member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Church Women of the Church. She was also a member of the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Charlotte is survived by her son, K. Richard Morley Jr. and his wife Debra of West Charlton, NY; 2 Daughters, Pamela M. Ritter of Kentucky and Elizabeth "Betsy" W. Martin and her husband Robert of Amsterdam, 7 grandchildren, Kenneth R. Morley Ill, Justin W. Morley, Sarah R. Mitchell, Geoffrey G. Ritter and Andrew R., Anthony W. and Christian A. Martin and 3 great grandchildren; Nathan, Jackson and Aurora. Mrs. Morley is also survived by nieces and nephews. The Office for the Burial of the Dead will be read and Holy Eucharist celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A Smith Rector, on Friday at 11 :00 Am at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 37 Division Street, Amsterdam. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery. The Family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 5 PM to 8 PM at Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.
