Obituary of Charles Karbocius

Charles Karbocius, 87, formerly of Vrooman Avenue, passed away peacefully Friday morning at Montgomery Meadows. Born in Siatienai, Lithuania, on July 19, 1918, he was the son of Jonas and Barbora Karbocius. Educated in Lithuania, Charles served with its Army in World War II. He immigrated to the United States in 1951 from Germany and lived in this area for a number of years. He was employed by the General Electric Company in Schenectady until he retired. A very active communicant of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church, he sang in its choir and was a member of Council 100 of the Knights Of Lithuania. He remained very loyal to his heritage and followed news of his native land throughout his life. His beloved wife, the former Sadie Kissel Kisielis predeceased him on July 5, 1998. Several cousins and dear friends, Polly and Edward Ziausys, survive. Services are Monday at 11:45 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 pm at St. Casimir?s Church with Fr. Stanley J. Swierzowski, celebrant. Interment is in St. Casimir?s Cemetery. A calling period will begin at 10:00 am Monday prior to the service. Contributions maybe made to St. Casimir?s Church Memorial Fund, 260 East Main Street Amsterdam 12010.
