Obituary of Armida DiBlasi Kosinski

Armida DiBlasi Kosinski, 74, of Stinson Ave. Tribes Hill, a former resident of West Main Street, Amsterdam, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital. She had been living with her son?s family for the past year and a half. Born in Amsterdam on May 12, 1931, the daughter of Eusebio and Carmella Ottati DiBlasi, she was a 1949 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She was employed in production control for Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mills from 1950-55, as a secretary in the administrator?s office at City Hall in Amsterdam from 1967-79, and as a secretary for the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief for the City of Amsterdam from 1980 until retiring in 1996. She was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Santa Sofia Society. She was the first president of the Montgomery County City Hall unit of the Civil Service, an active member and former president of the Amsterdam Business and Professional Women?s Club of Amsterdam, a member of the PTA and a member of the Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Cancer Society. On May 3, 1953, she was united in marriage to Leo Kosinski. He predeceased her on Sept. 5, 1989. Armida loved to shop and go to garage sales. Her greatest joy was to travel and visit her dear grandchildren. Her loving family includes her son, Edward V. and his wife Mimi Kosinski of Tribes Hill; daughters, Lenora and her husband Robert Crook of Wilson, North Carolina and Jennifer and her husband Brian Dietrick of Boynton Beach, Florida; brothers, Frank and his wife Nellie DiBlasi of Amsterdam and Angelo and his wife Gilda DiBlasi of Chatsworth California; a sister, Jean Cervera of Amsterdam; five grandchildren, Andrew and Jonathan Crook, Kayla and Paige Kosinski and Erik Dietrick and nieces and nephews survive. Services are Friday at 8:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Due to the observance of Holy Week, the Liturgy of the Word and Rite of Commendation will be held on Friday at 9:15 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church with Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, officiating. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. The Santa Sofia Society will meet at the funeral home on Thursday at 6pm. Interment is in St. Stanislaus? Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association of New York, 85 Watervliet Avenue, Albany, NY 12206-2803 or to a charity of one?s choice.
