Obituary of Karen A. Schell

Karen A. Schell, 62, of McCleary Avenue, passed away suddenly Saturday at her home. Born in Amsterdam on November 23, 1943, she was the devoted daughter of the late Joseph C. and Winifred Dargus Schell. Karen graduated for St. Mary?s Institute and later received her degree in elementary education from the College of St. Rose in Albany. She taught for several years in Hagaman and later had the privilege of teaching in London, England. Upon her return to the US, she began working for the Montgomery County Department Of Social Services as a social welfare examiner. She retired in 2002. A communicant of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church, she was an avid reader and loved history and music. Her greatest joy was to travel with her many dear and loving friends and to enjoy dinners out with them. She is survived by her cousins Arlene Jasper of Amsterdam, Leslie Jean Collins of North Grafton, Massachusetts and St. Augustine, Florida; Michael Kruse of Buffalo, and Michael Mikolaitis of Lake Oswego, Oregon and her dear friends Betty Minnitti, Theresa Cranker, Florence Wyszomirski; Barbara Cipullo and Jeff Selby. Services are Wednesday at 8:45 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by a con-celebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Casimir?s Church with Frs. Stanley Swierzowski and Victor Polito celebrants. Interment is in St. Casimir?s Cemetery. Calling hours are today from 5-7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to St. Casimir?s Cemetery Fund, in care of the funeral home.
