Obituary of Dora L. Maley Meilun

Dora L. Maley Meilun, Sylvia Lane, Amsterdam passed away Wednesday April 5, 2006 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Amsterdam on June 3, 1923 a daughter of Ralph and Anna Gaudio Fiorillo. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a 1940 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Mrs. Meilun worked for many years as a sewing machine operator for the former Montco Manufacturing Co. in Amsterdam. She also worked for the former Martin Jay and Hanover Dress Companies retiring in 1979. She was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She was a member of the Church?s Altar Rosary Society and the St. Agnello Auxiliary. Mrs. Meilun was an avid bowler and enjoyed casinos and playing bingo with her dear friends. She also enjoyed dancing and was known for her dancing in her high school days, she even obtained the nickname of ?jitterbug?. To this day she still had rhythm. Mrs. Meilun most of all enjoyed being with her children and family. She married Ben Meilun on November 7, 1943; he passed away on December 9, 1994. Survivors include one son, Andrew Meilun of Amsterdam; one daughter, Nancy Carol Hroncich and her husband Anthony of Amsterdam and one brother, Emil Fiorillo and his wife Nancy of Amsterdam. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday April 8, 2006 at 11:15A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. Interment is in St. Casimir?s Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday This Evening from 5-7P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael?s Church, P.O. Box 699, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Montgomery County S.P.C.A., State Hwy. 5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
