Obituary of Martha Minnitti

Martha Minnitti, 85, of West Main Street, passed away Sunday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, New York on June 3, 1920, she was the daughter of John and Filomena Sculco Minnitti. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended Amsterdam Schools. Martha co-owned and operated with her brothers, Minnitti?s Grill on West Main Street in Amsterdam, until she retired in 1994. Years ago she enjoyed, embroidery, cooking, baking, and making her famous fruitcake for the holidays. Martha was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Joseph Minnitti, Frank Minnitti and Anthony Minnitti. Survivors include her caregiver and cousin, Philomena Sculco of Amsterdam; two aunts, Angeline Sculco and Elizabeth Melillo, both of Amsterdam; a nephew, Thomas Minnitti of Amsterdam; three nieces, Mary Slater of Amsterdam, Gloria Sampson of Tribes Hill, and Victoria Minnitti of Galway; several great nieces, great nephews and cousins also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 30, 2006, at 9:15 am at the St. Michael?s Roman Catholic Church, Grove Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. Lawrence Decker as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Fort Johnson. Calling hours will be private. Flowers are acceptable however those desiring may make a contribution in Martha?s memory to St. Michael?s Memorial Fund, PO Box 699, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Edward L.
