Obituary of Kathleen E. Minkler

Kathleen E. ?Dolly? Minkler, 89, of Midline Rd., passed away Friday evening March 24, 2006 at the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on May 1, 1916 a daughter of Samuel and Catherine Fraser Doak. She was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and was a Graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1933. She went on to earn her secretarial degree from the former Amsterdam School of Commerce. She was employed as a legal secretary for many years at various law firms and primarily for Coleman-Taylor and Judge Chandler Knight. Mrs. Minkler later worked for the former Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam as a secretary until she retired in 1981. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Amsterdam and was very active with the church. She also was a member of the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; she was a former Grand Officer of the Order of the Eastern Star of Amsterdam-Canajoharie, the Perth Seniors and the Polar Bears Swimming Group in Amsterdam. Kathleen enjoyed being with her family and knitting for them. She married Robert R. Minkler II on April 16, 1948; he passed away on July 5, 1984. Survivors include- One son, Robert R. Minkler II and his wife Mary of Perth, One Daughter, Kathy Beth Snyder and her husband Mark of Port St. Lucie, Florida, One Brother, Ellwyn Doak of Jensen Beach, Florida. Five grandchildren, Brandt Minkler and his wife Stacia of Perth, Renee Minkler of Perth, Stacey Waner and her husband Aaron of Johnstown, NY, Sarah Gatta and her husband Barry of Port St. Lucie Florida and Trevor Snyder of Port St. Lucie Florida. Three great-grandchildren, McKenzie Waner, Mark Waner and Maddelena Rose Minkler. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday March 29, 2006 at 12:00 Noon at the United Methodist Church, Golf Course Rd., Amsterdam with the Rev. Brian Gould presiding. Interment will be later in the spring in Green Hill Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 11:00A.M. to 12:00 Noon prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, Golf Course Rd. Amsterdam.
