Obituary of John A. Demit

Mr. John A. Demit, age 83, of Johnstown, NY, died Saturday, March 18, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, NY. He was born August 25, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Alexander and Stephanida Katkowski Demit. He was employed as a meter reader by NYS Electric and Gas Company for many years. John enjoyed bowling during his entire lifetime, and was of Catholic faith. On September 29, 1949 John was married to Helen Lucia Woodrick who died on September 4, 2000. John is survived by three nephews, John Melkun, Gary Melhun and William Melkun. He was prcededed in death by his sister, Stella Melkun, and his nephew, Adam Melkun. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be held at 10:00 Wednesday. Interment will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
