Obituary of Justine Peters

Justine ?Jesse? Peters Pietandrea passed away peacefully Friday afternoon at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility with her daughters at her side. She was 102 years old. Born in Cranesville on Sept. 28, 1903, the daughter of Pasquale and Palma Gennett, she lived in this area her entire life. Jesse was employed as a glove maker for many years, and worked for Templeton Gloves in Fonda. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and maintained her own home until she was in her late nineties. Her kind and gentle manner remained with her her entire life. The oldest member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and the St. Anthony?s Auxiliary of the parish. Jesse was also a member of the Hi-Lo Seniors at one time. Her beloved husband, Louis A. Peters, Sr., whom she married on June 17, 1923, predeceased her on Sept. 5, 1991. Also, her brother Robert Gennett and her sister, Jennie DiCaprio, predeceased her. Her loving family includes her daughters, Rita Fondacaro and Theresa Caron both of Amsterdam; her son Louis A. Peters and his wife Sally of Syracuse; her grandchildren, Michael Palumbo, Stephen, Larry and Mark Peters and five great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews survive. Services are Tuesday at 10:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church with Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant. Interment is in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to St. Michael?s Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home. Jesse?s family would like to thank the caring staff of the Wilkinson Health Care Facility for all the kindness and love shown to her these past several years.
