Obituary of LeRoy G. Peeler

LeRoy G. Peeler, 87, of Clinton Avenue, Ft. Plain passed away Thursday evening at home after a long illness. Born on January 4, 1918 in Yosts he was the son of the late Roy and Grace Dillenbeck Peeler. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. In May 1942, he joined the United States Army, until his honorable discharge in September of 1945. Mr. Peeler worked for Beechnut in his early years as a manager. Mr. Peeler and a gentleman named Mr. George formed a candy brokerage company for several years, called ?Peeler & George?. He later worked for Lee Publications and Allied Publications as a salesperson until his retirement. Mr. Peeler was a member of the V.F.W. of Ft. Plain, Post #32, and the Ft. Plain Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his first wife; Arlene Peeler; one sister, Elsie Cooney, two brothers, Ralph and LeVerne Peeler. His loving family includes; his wife Beverly Peeler; two daughters; Barbara Kleinback and her husband Charles of Littiz, PA, and Deborah D?Arcangelis and her husband Roc of Ft. Plain, NY; one sister, Kate Werner of Ft. Plain, NY and seven grandchildren; Jim, Tim, Tom, Arlene, Amy, Zoe and Michael. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 2p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie with the Rev. Dr. Gordon S. Cook and Rev. Adriance Carter co-presiding. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 1 until 2 prior to the service.
