Obituary of Carol E. Sawitzki

Carol E. Sawitzki, 63, of Julia Street, passed away Wednesday morning at home peacefully. Born on December 15, 1942 in Amsterdam she was the daughter of the late Fred and Helen Allen Fraim. She was a lifelong area resident, was a 1961 graduate of St. Mary?s Institute and was a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. Sawitzki was employed as a receptionist for Dr. Bipin Patel for several years until her retirement. Carol loved to work with people and loved life. She was a dedicated wife, a loving mother and adored her grandchildren; she also enjoyed cooking. Mrs. Sawitzki was predeceased by a brother Robert Fraim. Her loving family includes her husband Paul G. Sawitzki whom she married on November 8, 1964; two sons, John and his wife Kelly and Gregor and his wife Maria; two sisters, Rita Manginelli and her husband Arthur, and Mary Ann Marcotte and her husband Norman, all of Amsterdam; five grandchildren John Paul Jr., Evan, Emery, Matthew and Ella; and several Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her best friend Regina Cornelius and her husband Alan. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 8:15a.m. at the Betz. Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15a.m. at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church, 157 E. Main Street, Amsterdam. Interment will take place in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Ft. Johnson. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4 until 8 this evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Mary?s Church Memorial Fund, 156 E. Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to a charity of one?s choice.
