Obituary of Jane H. Dybas Luksis

Jane H. Dybas Luksis, 75, of Saratoga Road, Scotia, formerly a resident of Amsterdam, passed away Thursday morning March 9, 2006 at Ellis Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, New York on July 10, 1930 a daughter of Albert and Catherine Dybas. She was a 1948 graduate of Amsterdam High School and was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam until moving to Scotia in 1992. Mrs. Luksis worked in the Marketing and Research Department at the former Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam for over 15 years. She was a parishioner of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and was a member of the former American Lithuanian Club Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling for many years and was at one time a Den Mother of the Cub Scouts. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She married Joseph A. Luksis on May 24, 1952. In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Joseph J. Luksis and his wife Diane of Duluth, Georgia and James A. Luksis and his wife Bonnie of Wappingers Falls, New York; three brothers, Louie Dybas and his wife Betty of Amsterdam, Richard Dybas and his wife Mary Ann of Van Nuys, California and Matthew Dybas of Amsterdam, New York; one sister, Lottie Rogers of Amsterdam, New York and four cherished grandchildren, Amanda and Brian Luksis both of Duluth, Georgia and Jason and Eric Luksis both of Wappingers Falls, New York. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mrs. Luksis was pre-deceased by a sister Dorothy Wyszomirski. Funeral services will be held on Monday March 13, 2006 at 8:15AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM at St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church, East Main St. Amsterdam, New York with the Rev. Stanley Swierzowski as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Casimir?s Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday March 12, 2006 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church, 260 East Main St., Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Arthritis Foundation of Northeastern New York, 1717 Central Ave, Suite 105 Albany, NY 12205.
