Obituary of John Kamucki

John Kamucki, 89, former resident of Leffert Street, died Tuesday evening at Well?s house in Johnstown, New York. He was also a resident of Hillcrest Adult Home in Amsterdam for a number of years. Born June 28, 1916, in Hartford, Vermont he was the son of Wasel and Lena Vilanovich Kamucki. He attended schools in Norwich, Vermont before moving to Amsterdam in 1945. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII serving as a Staff Sergeant in the Asian Pacific Theatre. John was first employed as a chef at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and later worked for several billboard companies in Amsterdam; he was last employed by Breton Industries in Amsterdam until retiring in 1980. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and was a member of the John J. Wyszomirski Post 701, American Legion. John was predeceased by two sisters, Anna Podolec and Josie Grajewski, and a brother, Joe Kamucki. Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no funeral service or calling hours. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made in John?s memory to a charity of one?s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York.
