Obituary of Eleanor W. Pohlman

Eleanor W. Pohlman, 80, of Stratton Apartments Division Street, died Wednesday afternoon at St. Mary?s Hospital after a short illness. Born December 22, 1925, in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Ethel Palmer Borntrager. She lived most of her life in Amsterdam and attended Amsterdam Schools. Eleanor was employed by Ward Products of Amsterdam for 12 years until retiring in 1978. She attended St. Luke?s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. Eleanor loved visiting her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, reading and watching TV. On August 26, 1949, she married Walter Pohlman. Besides her dear husband, she is survived by her loving family: three sons, Jim Dopp and his wife Melissa of Enfield, Connecticut, Howard Pohlman of Southwick, Massachusetts and John Dopp and his wife Mary of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Eleanor was predeceased by a granddaughter, Heidi Dopp, who died in 2004. It was Eleanor?s request that there be no funeral or calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor?s memory to a charity of one?s choice.
