Obituary of Ciro DePascale

Ciro ?Jerry? DePascale, 101, of Union Street, passed away peacefully Thursday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility. Born on January 7, 1905 in Aballe d?Maddelone, Caserta, Italy, he was the son of Ferdinand and Angelina Natale DePascale. Jerry came to the US and Amsterdam in 1921, where he has since resided. He worked for Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. for a time, and later for the City Of Amsterdam, as a groundskeeper for the Municipal Golf Course. During the winter months, he was employed at the City Storehouse. Jerry carried his love of gardening to his own home until he reached the age of ninety five. He was the oldest communicant of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, and was a member of it?s St. Anthony-Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the St. Agnello Congrega. On November 25, 1928, he was united in marriage to the former Josephine Martuscello. She predeceased him on Nov. 3, 1975. Also, an infant son Ferdinand died at the age of two. His loving and devoted family includes his daughter, Dolores A. DePascale of Amsterdam; his son, The Rev. Daniel DePascale of Pontevedera Beach Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Services are Tuesday morning at 8:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Con-celebrated Mass Of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church. His son, Fr. Daniel DePascale will be the main celebrant. Interment is in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday evening from 4-7 pm at the funeral home where the St. Anthony- Holy Name Society will meet at 6:30 pm. Contributions may be made to Mt.
