Obituary of Joseph J. Kubas

Mr. Joseph J. Kubas, 90, of Mathias Avenue, Amsterdam died Tuesday morning at the Wilkinson R.H.C. F. Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 17, 1915 the son of the late Andrew and Sophia Kubas. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. In June of 1943 Mr. Kubas enlisted in the United States Navy and was discharged in 1945 at the rank of Ship Lifter 1st class. Mr. Kubas was employed by American Locomotive for over 30 years and was a maintenance man at Fulton- Montgomery Community College retiring in 1980. Mr. Kubas was a communicant of St. Mary?s R.C. Church in Amsterdam. He was also a member of St. Mary?s Seniors and the American Legion, John Wyszomirski Post 701. Survivors include his wife, the former Louise H. Malkowicz, whom he married on August 17, 1940; two daughters, Mary Lou Warnick of Chatham, Massachusetts; Judith Habla of Willow, Alaska; one sister Stella Parham of Grand Prairie, Texas; three grand children, four great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:15a.m. at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory in Schenectady. Inurnment will take place in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Ft. Johnson. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary?s Institute, Church St, Amsterdam, NY 12010, or to a charity of one?s choice.
