Obituary of Virginia Ann McNamee

Virginia Ann McNamee, 73, formerly of Rochester Street, Ft. Johnson, died Monday morning at Montgomery Meadows RHCF with her loving family at her side after being a resident for 2 ½ years. Born March 23, 1932 in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Monica Bush Hawker. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1951 and was a member of the Amsterdam Drum and Bugle Corps. Virginia was employed over the years at Ward Products, Boice's Fish Market, Inman?s Manufacturing and she was last employed by Esquire Novelty retiring several years ago. She attended St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church, was a former Ft. Johnson?s Girls Softball coach, Girl Scout Leader, and was a member and former secretary for TOPPS. Virginia loved the Yankees, enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, and spending time with her sisters. She also loved going out with the Lunch-Bunch, spending time with the girls at TOPPS, and she loved her dog Penny. On October 21, 1950 she married Bernard W. McNamee, who died July 14, 1980. She is survived by her loving family; three daughters, Darlene Fetterly and her husband Bob of Amsterdam, Colleen Resila and her husband Dennis of Amsterdam, and Maureen Manginelli and her husband Robert of Fonda; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Monica Bazzar of Scotchbush and Ruth Mathias of Galway; 10 grandchildren, Erica, James, Adam, and Robert Fetterly, April, Richard and Dennis Resila, Nicholas, Anthony and Bernard Manginelli; great-grandson, Walker Peterson; and several nieces, nephew and cousins also survive. Virginia was predeceased by a brother, Robert Hawker. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 5pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday one-hour prior from 4-5pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Virginia?s memory to her family in care of the funeral home.
