Obituary of John S. Petterson

John S. Petterson, 82, of Union St., Fultonville, New York passed away Tuesday evening January 24, 2006 at the E. L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care facility in Amsterdam. Born in Fultonville on November 9, 1923, a son of Henry and Martha Hettrick Petterson, he was a lifelong Fultonville resident and attended local schools. Mr. Petterson first was a self-employed farmer until 1945. He then went to work at the Superb Glove Company in Johnstown, New York. Finally he worked in the shipping department for the White Mop Wringer Company in Fultonville for 35 years retiring as a shipping clerk in 1986. He married Edith Failing Petterson on June 30, 1943. In addition to his wife survivors include two sons, Dewey Petterson of Cavina, California and Roger Petterson of Fultonville and three grandchildren, Jerry & Vicki Petterson and Kylie McPherson and her husband Jamie. He was predeceased by a grandson, Scott Petterson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 11:00AM at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, New York with the Rev. Nancy Pullen presiding. Interment will be in Maple Ave. Cemetery, Fultonville, New York. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 2:00-4:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.
