Obituary of Dorothy May Provenzano

Dorothy May Provenzano, 68, of Julia Street, Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Monday evening, January 9, 2006, after a long illness, at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam with her family at her side. She was born July 28, 1937 in Albany, New York, the daughter of Peter and Caroline Card Lampman. In 1958 she was married to Ronald Naughton who predeceased her in 1967. Years ago Dorothy worked at Detroit Supply in Albany where she later met and married Alfonso Provenzano in 1972. She then became a resident of Amsterdam, New York. Dorothy later worked as the bookkeeper for the family business, Al?s Universal Auto Supply Inc. until 1988. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Alfonso Provenzano, a daughter, Diane Naughton, two sons, Peter and James Provenzano and two granddaughters, Maria and Antonia Provenzano. Dorothy is also survived by her sister, Kathryn May Myers Lampman and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 13, 2006 at 8:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove St. Amsterdam with the Rev. Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael?s Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday January 12, 2006 from 5-8P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary?s Hospital Foundation, 427 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. Dorothy?s family is deeply grateful to the caring third floor staff of St. Mary?s Hospital for all they?ve done for her and the family.
