Obituary of Florence E. Brown

Mrs. Florence E. Winnie Brown, age 87 of Caroga Lake died Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville. She was born May 31, 1918 in the town of Bleecker, the daughter of the late Ralph and Emma Ort Winnie. A lifelong resident of Bleecker, Florence moved to Caroga Lake four years ago. She was employed by the former Jayne LaVan Inc. in Gloversville, and also worked as a domestic in several homes in the Gloversville area. Mrs. Brown was a member of Bleecker Community Church and the Nick Stoner Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by two stepsons, Robert R. Brown and Lewis F. Brown Jr. of Caroga Lake; a brother, Harold F. Winnie of Bleecker; two sisters, Doris Fisher of Gloversville and Virginia L. Wardner of Holland Patent, NY; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis F. Brown Sr. in 1995, and by her brother Clarence Winnie and sister Almeda Brown. There will be no calling hours or services. Interment will take place privately in Bleecker Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078. Arrangements are by at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
