Obituary of Anna M. Simonson

Mrs. Anna M. Knoblauch Simonson, age 52, of Gloversville, died Thursday evening, January 5, 2006 at Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville, surrounded by her loving husband and family. Anna?s death followed a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 1, 1953 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Robert Knoblauch and Beatrice Brown Knoblauch. A 1971 graduate of Gloversville High School, Anna was employed as a welder and assembler by Espey Electronics at their Gloversville and Saratoga Springs locations. She was dedicated to her occupation for over twenty years until her illness kept her from working this past September. Known as ?The Cake Lady?, for many years Anna loved to bake cakes for various occasions. She also assisted her husband Greg for many years with the Fulton County Bowlers Accociation and its annual tournament. She is survived by her husband Gregory A. Simonson, whom she maried on June 25, 1988; three children, Paul Andrews and fiance Megan Cramer of New Hartford, Lori A. Hall and companion James Kilmartin of Ephratah and Scott A. Simonson and wife Stacy of Gloversville; her mother, Beatrice Knoblauch of Gloversville; three grandchildren, Zachary A. Hall, Shelby L. Hall and Tara M. Kilmartin; seven sisters, Edna Brooks and husband Doug of Bleecker, June Manchester, Dorothy Manchester and husband George and Barbara Manchester and husband Ralph, all of Bleecker, Roberta Beauchamp and husband Rick of Mayfield, Ruth Etherton and husband Nick of Johnstown and Betty Knoblauch and companion Ed Wager of Gloversville; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Sunday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held 10:00 am Monday with the Rev. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
