Obituary of Emily Jane Rosser

Emily ?Jane? Rosser, 54, of Romeyn Avenue, passed away Friday morning at her home following a ten-year battle with breast cancer. Born in Amsterdam on September 18, 1951, the daughter of the late Oliver and Elizabeth McGee Rosser. She was a 1969 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Jane was a member of the National Honor Society and a Latin Medallion Award winner. She went on to attend Oneonta State College where she graduated in 1973. Jane was a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church. She spent most of her life caring for others, especially her family, and faced her own illness with bravery right until the end. An avid sports fan, she also loved dogs. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Kathryn ?Ann? Brown, who died in 1999. Her loving family includes her brothers, John Rosser of Syracuse, Thomas Rosser of Niskayuna, and Michael Rosser of Amsterdam; two sisters, Jeanne Sausville of Amsterdam and Mary Rosser of Vallejo, California; six nieces and seven nephews, as well as cousins. She was the niece of Stan and Gladys Bassett of So. Yarmouth. Mass.; and Kay Welteroth of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 am at St. Mary?s Church, 156 East Main Street. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Those who wish may make a contribution to the Community Hospice Of Amsterdam, in care of the funeral home.
