Obituary of Luisa A. DeMartinis

Luisa A. DeMartinis of Amsterdam passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday afternoon. She was 39 years old. Born in Amsterdam on Feb. 15, 1966, the daughter of Tullio and Filomena Sasso DeMartinis, she lived here her entire life. In 1980, she graduated from St. Mary?s Institute and was a 1984 graduate of Bishop Scully High School. She later attended the University Of Hartford in Conn. Luisa was employed for many years in the family business, Tullio?s Diner. After it closed she worked in various local businesses. Luisa was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Her loving family includes her parents, Tullio and Fil DeMartinis of Amsterdam; her brother, Fr. O. Robert DeMartinis, pastor of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Schenectady; her companion, George Leggiero of Amsterdam; uncles, John Sasso, Vincent Maria Sasso, and Salvatore Anne Sasso all of Amsterdam; and Joseph Emilia Sasso of Alife, Italy; aunts, Cristina Pacilio of Alife, and Benedetta Francesco Massone of Milan, Italy; and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be con celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Luisa?s brother, Fr. Robert DeMartinis will be the principal celebrant. Entombment will be in the family mausoleum in St. Casimir?s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michael?s Memorial Fund, PO Box 699, Amsterdam 12010, or to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 520 Bradt Street, Schenectady 12306. Her arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
