Obituary of Janet A. Keller

Janet A. Keller, 82, of Phillips St. Amsterdam, passed away Tuesday evening November 29, 2005 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam on September 4, 1923 she was a daughter of John and Edna Gaska Rimkis. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a 1940 Graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She then attended Mildred Elley Business School in Albany where she studied to become a Professional Secretary. She worked for Attorney James White for a time in Amsterdam and later the Montgomery County Probation Department. She ended her career as an employee of the New York State Probation Department in Albany, NY. Mrs. Keller was a communicant of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church and served on her Class Reunion Committee. She married John J. Keller on February 23, 1946. He passed away on February 12, 1964. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Wassel and her husband Peter of Amsterdam, Gail Trevett and her husband Garry of Amsterdam and Karen Ullrich and her husband David of Athens, NY; two Grandchildren, Allyson Ferris and her husband Corey of Amsterdam, Abigail Wassel of Amsterdam, two great grandchildren, Cameron and Payton Ferris of Amsterdam. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 8:45AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM at St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church, East Main St. Amsterdam with Father Stanley J. Swierzowski as celebrant. Interment is in St. Casimir?s Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 2, 2005 from 4-7PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir?s Church, to the David & Michelle Cudmore Scholarship Fund c/o Key Bank, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or the Avon Foundation Walk for Breast Cancer, 1345 Avenue of the America?s, New York, NY 10105.
