Obituary of Joseph A. Petrosino

Joseph A. Petrosino, 80, of Amsterdam, passed away Sunday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital. Born in Amsterdam on Sept. 3, 1925, the son of Alfonso and Felicia DiBlasi Petrosino, he was educated locally and lived here his entire life. He entered the US Coast Guard at an early age and served during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he began his career with the US Government at the Army Reserve Unit in Rotterdam until he retired. A member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 55, he attended the Kingsboro Assembly Of God in Gloversville. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, the former Josephine Materazzo. They were married on May 23, 1948. He also leaves his son; David A. and his wife Kay Petrosino of Amsterdam; his daughter Gail M. and her husband Michael Marotta of Amsterdam; granddaughters, Sharon Hanson and Kristina Marotta; great granddaughter, Brittani Hanson; brother Frank Petrosino; sisters, Carmella Sivik and Antoinette DelCostello all of Amsterdam; and nieces, nephews and cousins. A sister, Edith Tesiero predeceased him. At Joseph?s request, all services and calling hours are at the convenience of the family at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment is in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Fort Johnson. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a contribution in his memory to St. Jude?s Children?s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
