Obituary of Fannie E. Young

Fannie E. Young, 87, of Colina Lane, Clifton Park died Saturday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. She was a resident for a short time at the Alterra Wynwood Assisted Living Center in Schenectady. Born May 15, 1918, in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of the late Stoddard and Minnie Minkler Reichel. She was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch high School Class of 1936. Over the years Fannie lived in Amsterdam and Fort Johnson until moving to Clifton Park in 1978, where she lived until 2003. She was a homemaker and worked in the cafeterias throughout the Greater Amsterdam School District. Fannie at one time was a member and president of the former Fort Johnson P.T.A.; she also was a former member and secretary for the Amsterdam Junior Bowling League. Fannie was an active member of the former Fort Johnson Methodist Church; she was a member of the Schenendehowa United Methodist Church in Clifton Park. Fannie loved her family dearly and loved caring for animals. On April 21, 1939, she married Albert Young who died in 1998. Survivors include a son, Michael A. Young and his wife Marie of Amsterdam; a daughter, Joan Van Patten of Clifton Park; two sisters, Lillian Kanches of Fort Johnson and Mary Jane Henderson of Delhi, New York; four grandchildren, Wendy Horn and her husband Christopher, Rev. Kristi Culver and her husband Christopher, Christopher Young and Lisa Young; two great grandchildren, Connor and Nolan Horn; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 11:00 at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Kristi Culver officiating. Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery in Tribes Hill, New York. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
