Obituary of Ida M. Nestle

Mrs. Ida M. Nestle, 92, formerly of Highland Terrace, Ft. Plain passed away Monday evening at the Van Allen Nursing Home in Little Falls where she had been a resident. Born on August 10, 1913 in Albany, NY she was the daughter of William and Gertrude Crocker Waters. Mrs. Nestle was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School class of 1930. She also went on to receive her teaching certificate from the Oneonta Normal School, which later became SUNY College at Oneonta. Mrs. Nestle started her career as a schoolteacher at various country schools throughout the area and in Canajoharie. She later worked as a librarian?s aide at Canajoharie Central School from 1960 until her retirement in 1987. Mrs. Nestle also worked at the Canajoharie Public Library and was a member of the St. John-St. Marks Lutheran Church in Canajoharie. She married Arthur Nestle on November 8, 1941. He passed away on October 1, 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Nestle of Ft. Plain; a son Arthur J. Nestle and his wife Kristie of Colchester, VT; a granddaughter, Marie J. Bramwell and her husband Eric of Orem, UT; a great granddaughter, Liesel Bramwell; and several nieces, nephews, North Carolina cousins, and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Palatine Shrine, Rt. 5, Nelliston with the Rev. Gail Wolling officiating. Preceding the memorial service at the shrine a graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the West St. Johnsville Cemetery, St. Johnsville. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John-St. Marks Lutheran Church or to the Palatine Shrine, both in care of the church, 99 Church St., Canajoharie, NY 13317. Arrangements are by the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, NY.
