Obituary of Joan Anne Frenyea Luft

Joan Anne Frenyea Luft, 62, of Locust Avenue, passed away peacefully late Tuesday evening at St. Mary?s Hospital with her family at her side. She was born in Johnstown, NY on Nov. 18, 1942, and was a 1960 graduate of Johnstown High School. She was a homemaker, raising her family and later for eighteen years, worked as a nurses assistant at The Montgomery County Infirmary, now Montgomery Meadows, until she retired. Joan was a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church. Her favorite pastimes were spent with her family, camping with her grandchildren, sewing, crocheting and doing needlepoint. She collected teddy bears, and had a special place in her heart for her ?boys?, Theodore Bear and Bo. Her loving family includes her husband, Roger J. Luft, whom she married on November 4, 1995; her father, Paul Pollack of Johnstown; daughters, Lea Guisti and her husband Dennis of Ft. Johnson; Tonya Dlugas, Kimberly Surento and her husband Timothy all of Amsterdam; her siblings, Maria Saltsman of Fonda, Rose DeWitt, Robert Frenyea and Mary Lou Adams all of Johnstown; grandchildren; Dennis Guisti, Jr., and Diedra Joan Guisti, Gary Vincent and Austin Dlugas, Timothy Surento Jr., and Danielle Joan Surento, Ryan and Christopher Pacillo; a great-granddaughter, Star Pacillo, as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Lillian Pollack and a brother, George Frenyea. Services are Saturday at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St Mary?s Church. Interment is in St. Mary?s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
