Obituary of Filomena M. Riccio

Filomena M. Riccio, 91, lifelong resident of Vrooman Ave., Amsterdam passed away Monday evening at the E. L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. Born on May 12, 1914 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Coluni Riccio. Filomena was educated in the Amsterdam School District and went on to work for Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam for many years until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the former St. Rita?s Sodality of the church. She was also a former member of St. Casimir?s Seniors. Survivors include her sister, Sophie M. Riccio of Amsterdam; 2 brothers, John P. Evelyn Riccio of Amsterdam, and Michael J. Rosale Riccio of Amsterdam; and several nieces, and nephews also survive. Filomena was predeceased by 4 brothers, Peter Riccio, Salvatore ?Sam? Riccio, Alfred Riccio, and Louis R. Riccio. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove St. Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating. The burial will take place in St. Michaels Cemetery, Amsterdam. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the E. L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility or to the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Foundation both at 4988 State Highway 30N, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
