Obituary of Leland G. Baker

Mr. Leland G. ?Lee? Baker, 69 years old of Clizbe Avenue, Amsterdam, died Monday at St. Mary?s Hospital. Mr. Baker was born September 25, 1935 in Amsterdam, the son of Leland H. and Gretchen Narosky Baker. He attended Amsterdam schools and was a life long resident of Amsterdam. Mr. Baker served in the Army Rangers and National Guard Co., G&C, Second Battalion, 105th Infantry. In 1965 he accepted a position with General Electric Co. in Schenectady as an assembly erector until retiring in 1995. Mr. Baker was a member of The United Methodist Church in Amsterdam; the International Union of Electrical Workers, AFL-CIO, Local 301; and the General Electric Quarter Century Club. On May 6, 1962 he married the former Gail Frenz who survives; his step-daughter Lorie Pisarczyk and her husband Timothy of Hagaman and his grandchildren Sarah and Timothy Pisarczyk. Several cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Thursday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. The Rev. Brian Gould, officiating. Cremation has taken place at Vale Crematory. A graveside committal service will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. A calling hour will precede the funeral service at the funeral home from 11:00 until 12:00 noon.
