Obituary of William R. Schuyler

William R. Schuyler, Jr., 62, of Railroad St., Fonda passed away on Tuesday February 15, 2005 at his home after a brief illness. Will was born on July 21, 1942 in Amsterdam, NY the son of the late William R. Schuyler, SR. and Doris E. Schuyler. His early education was in Amsterdam, NY. He graduated from Fonda-Fultonville Central School where he served as president of his class for all four years and attended Boys State in his senior year. He attended Northrup Institute of Technology in California and Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. He owned and operated his own service station in Fonda after which he became an insurance agent for many years. At the time of his death he was employed by Finch, Pruyn Paper Co., in Glens Falls, NY, where he had enjoyed working for several years. Will was a Methodist and was a member of the Fultonville Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Jean Franklin-Schuyler whom he married on August 24, 1996; a daughter, Melinda J. Begley and her husband Daniel of Little Falls; a son, William R. Schuyler, III and his wife Diane of Lancaster, PA; his mother, Doris E. Schuyler of Schuyler, NY; 2 brothers, Robert G. Schuyler of Schuyler, NY and John H, Schuyler and his wife Marilyn of Frankfort, NY; a granddaughter, Madeline Grace Schuyler; 2 step-daughters, Sharlene Carpenter of Clifton Park, and Melissa Franklin of Amsterdam; 4 step-grandchildren, Brittany Fox, Alesha Carrero, Devyne Ryan Burke, and Ashley Hulburt; several nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers in-law, and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by a brother in-law, Roswell LaRoe. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 3 until 7 p.m. at the Jackson and Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, NY. A service will be held on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Will?s brother John H. Schuyler officiating.
