Obituary of Anthony F. Romano

Anthony F. Romano, 76, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 03, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 7, 1939 in Amsterdam; the son of the late Peter Romano and Angelina DiPasquel Romano Natoli. Tony was a graduate of St. Mary's School in Amsterdam, and later went on to get both a BS degree at Le Moyne College in Syracuse and a Master's Degree from The College of St. Rose. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army who served in Vietnam. He was an English teacher at both St. Mary's School and Bishop Scully High School, as well as a football and basketball coach at Bishop Scully. He also worked for The Leader Herald as an Advertising Salesman, and later as a local Disc Jockey and cofounder of Prime Time DJs. Tony had a huge passion for Golfing and was very proud of his hole-in-one in the 18th Hole at Holland Meadows Golf Course. Above all, his favorite job and proudest achievement was being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his loving family, his wife, Barbara Kollar-King Romano; his children, Antone Romano (Ric Spencer), Nicholas Romano, Michael Romano (Candace), Kelly Dutcher (Keith) and Daniel Romano; Step-children, Kim Bartlett (Eric), Randell King (Michelle); Grandchildren, Joseph Romano (Jessica), Nicholas Romano, Anthony Romano, Alexis Dutcher, Aiden Romano, Samantha Brown, Meghan Bartlett, Anthony Bartlett and Eric Bartlett, Jr.; Great-grandchildren, Kyra Bartlett, Brea Romano and Bella Romano. The family will receive family and friends from 4 to 6 P.M. on Monday, February 8, 2016 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 148 South Main Street, Gloversville, with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak celebrating. Private burial will take at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Anthony's memory may be made to the James A. Brennan Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY, 12078 or to the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Montgomery and Fulton Counties, P.O. Box 466, Amsterdam, NY, 12010.
