Obituary of Gerald L. Austin

Mr. Gerald L. “Jerry” Austin, 54, of James Street, Amsterdam, NY died on April 29, 2018 following a brief illness.  Born in Amsterdam, NY on October 27, 1963 he was the son of Aida Carmona Austin and the late Gerald H. Austin.

A lifelong area resident, he attended local schools.  Gerald was employed as a welder for most of his life but could do almost anything with his hands.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his mother, Aida; two sisters, Valerie Whisenant and her husband George , Gloria Austin; nephews, Nicolas Zanella, Neil Estrada and Dominic Whisenant; and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 2p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.  Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday prior to the service, beginning at 12p.m.  Please visit the online memorial at www.brbsfuneral.com
