Obituary of Clifford Nellis

Clifford "Terry" Nellis, 69 of Gloversville, entered the gates of heaven so he could go to the big tannery in the sky on Tuesday May 12, 2009. Cliff was born on June 28, 1939, the son of Harriet Walker Nellis and the late Wesley C. Nellis. On June 29, 1958 Cliff married Shirley Hess Nellis and they shared 50 years united in marriage. Cliff worked with leather all of his life. Mainly he had worked for the Karg Brothers tannery. Cliff was a member of the Mayfield United Methodist Church, the Bannertown 50+ club, and a former member of the Gloversville Moose Lodge. Cliff was also an avid N.Y. Yankees fan. Cliff is survived by his wife Shirley Nellis of Gloversville; one daughter Christina A. Nellis of Gloversville; his mother Harriet Walker; his step mother Roberta Nellis; two wonderful and awesome grandchildren Justin Hladik and Julie Hladik; and two sisters Nancy Smalling Ed of Fultonville and Naya Hoose Frank of Mayfield. In addition to his father, Cliff was also preceded in death by a sister, Naya Jene Nellis. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the Mayfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Oliver officiating. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematorium in Schenectady. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Cliff's memory to the Mayfield United Methodist Church, P.O.
